DETROIT – A 15-year-old Detroit girl was sexually assaulted Wednesday morning while walking alone to Henry Ford High School on the city's west side, according to police.
Detroit police sources said the girl's usual walking partner was the 14-year-old girl who was killed Tuesday night when a van struck her and another teen on 8 Mile Road at Evergreen Road.

The deceased teen's walking partner waited for her at their normal meeting place Wednesday morning near Avon and Trojan, not knowing her friend had been killed the night before. She waited 15 to 20 minutes before deciding to cut through O'Hair Park at about 7:55 a.m. That's when a man (see description below) grabbed her, pulled her into a brushy area and sexually assaulted her.
Police sources say the man has been seen in the area. Investigators have been searching the area with K9 units.
The other teen who was struck by the van Tuesday night remains in critical condition at a hospital.
She and the 14-year-old who was killed also are students at Detroit's Henry Ford High School. Security that patrols before and after school is stepping up presence until this man is caught.
Description of attacker:
The man is described as a black man standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a ski mask, black hoodie, and blue basketball shorts.
Police also are searching for a blue Chrysler 300 with shiny wheels and white stripes on both sides.
