Michigan dairy farm leveled by severe weather

Barns, farm equipment at Devor dairy farm in Decker destroyed

DECKER, Mich. – A dairy farm in Michigan's Thumb region has been leveled by the severe weather that swept through late Monday night.

Several barns, farm equipment, trailers and a farmhouse at the Devor dairy farm in Decker were destroyed by the storms.

"About 11 o'clock, the tornado hit. It lasted about three minutes. There are about 3,500 cows on the premises, and we only lost about 40," said John Shepherd.

Many of the cows are being taken in by neighboring farms.

No one on the farm was hurt.
