DETROIT – Five Detroit Fire Department stations will get new engines on Friday, the city has announced.
The new engines are the last of 10 new ones which were custom-built for the DFD firefighters. The trucks have been arriving at stations during the past month.

According to a spokesman for Mayor Mike Duggan's office, with the new engines 1/3 of DFD's fleet of fire engines will be brand new and six new multi-purpose rescue squads have been ordered. Those are expected to be delivered next spring.
Executive Fire Commissioner Edsel Jenkins will join firefighters at 10 a.m. Friday to send off the new rigs from the Detroit Public Safety Headquarters on Third Street.
