DETROIT – As promised, it's been a warm, humid week and, as expected, widespread strong to severe thunderstorms raked most of our area yesterday (those of you in the farther south suburbs missed out on most of the action).
Today was still muggy, but not nearly as hot due to the cloud cover. While a few isolated showers or thunderstorms are still possible through early evening, anything that does pop up (IF anything pops up) will be significantly more sparse in coverage than what we saw yesterday.

Any evening showers or thunderstorms should diminish through the evening, and we should have a quiet night ahead…albeit continued warm and muggy…with lows near 70° (21° Celsius for my Canadian friends). Calm air overnight also means no breeze coming through the window for those of you without air conditioning.
Partly cloudy, hot and humid on Saturday, with just a few isolated thunderstorms possible mid-to-late afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 80s (30 to 31° Celsius). Southwest wind at 4 to 8 mph.

Labor Day is the day I've been discussing with you all week long. Most of today's models hold off the approaching cold front until Monday night, but it's going to be a very close call. My gut feeling is that (unless the front speeds up) most of us will stay dry through the daylight hours. IF any thunderstorms pop-up (again, unless the front speeds up), I suspect that would happen near the I-69 corridor and north of there. We still have a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it shouldn't rain all day each day…there will be dry periods. Highs in the low 80s on Tuesday, and into the upper 70s on Wednesday. It appears that we'll stay in the 70s the rest of the week.
