Driver killed in pedestrian accident in Dearborn

Pedestrian suffered broken leg

DEARBORN, Mich. – A driver hit a pedestrian, then died after crashing into a pole in Dearborn Friday evening, according to police.

The accident occurred at the corner of Greenfield Road and Paul Avenue around 7:45 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 15-year-old girl from Detroit, was hit by a Ford Focus and continued down the road and crashed into a pole.

The girl suffered a broken leg.

The driver, 18-year-old Ali Aljanabi, was killed was killed in the crash; the passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was injured. He is in stable condition. Both boys are from Dearborn.

Police said the pedestrian is lucky to be alive.

Speed may have been a factor.
