DETROIT – Detroit police are working to find the gunman responsible for killing a 25-year-old father of three as he walked in his west side neighborhood Thursday night.
"My son looked at me before he took a breath, he looked at me with a tear in his eye, like he was saying help me," said Ricky young, whose son, Larry, was killed. "But I couldn't help my son. I couldn't help him."

Larry Young had just moved in with his sister, Rikia Young, in a home that's across the street from their father on Huntington Road near 7 Mile Road.
Police said Larry Young walked out of his home to take a phone call around 9:45 p.m. when he was shot multiple times on the sidewalk.
"Whenever he talks on the phone, he always walks up and down the sidewalk," Rikia Young said. "He walked out of the house, three seconds later I heard six shots, like six of them. It just sounded so close."
Ricky Young said he looked out the window when he heard the shots and saw his son on the ground.
"I ran over there and tried to pick my son up and get him in the car, but he was too heavy," Ricky Young said.
"I just ran outside screaming, 'Larry, Larry, Larry,' and I saw my dad run across the street," Rikia Young said.
The family said they heard a car speed off, but don't have any other details.
Young leaves behind a 3 year old, 5 year old and 7 year old. His sister said he had just graduated from truck driving school and was working on getting a new job.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Detroit police or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP.
