2 people dead in accident at I-94 and Oakwood, MSP says

Westbound Interstate 94 reopens at Oakwood Boulevard

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Two people are dead after an accident at Interstate 94 and Oakwood Boulevard, Michigan State Police said.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident Saturday in Allen Park.

The accident shut down westbound Interstate 94 at Oakwood Boulevard. Lanes reopened Saturday night.

One motorcycle was lodged under a vehicle and a second motorcycle caught fire along the side of the freeway. People who stopped to help could not save the two bikers who were killed.

A witness driving westbound on I-94 at Oakwood said he first saw the two bikers as they passed him. He never saw the SUV.

When the witness pulled over, he said he saw a woman behind the steering wheel with a male passenger.

The witness said both bikers were wearing helmets.

The two victims were not identified by MSP.

It's unknown if the driver of the SUV was in police custody. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
