DETROIT – Two Detroit EMTs, a patient they were transporting and two other people were hurt Tuesday in a crash on Detroit's west side.
The crash happened at the intersection of W. McNichols Road and Schaefer Highway.
"The ambulance came through the light. I seen a car, and the car was trying to beat the light. And when it did, it hit the ambulance right at the front," a witness told Local 4. "The ambulance veered over into the pole. When it hit the pole, the pole just started tumbling over."
Two women in the sedan had to be cut out of the car. The 60-year-old driver received a ticket for failing to yield.
Everyone hurt in the crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash also brought down power lines that were smoldering on the ground.
DTE Energy were on scene all day working to secure the wires.
