Landlines disappearing from American households

Something else seems to be disappearing from American households, and that's landlines.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that only about 8% of U.S. households have just landlines, while nearly half of U.S. households now only use cellphones.

It says about 42% have both a landline and a cell phone.

Twelve years ago, only a mere 3% of U.S. households used only cell phones.   So given today's trend, researchers believe more than half of U.S. homes will be wireless within the next year.
