Study: Redesign of Interstate 375 in Detroit still an option

No description found

DETROIT – Results of a study say it's still an option to redesign Interstate 375, a spur off of I-75 that feeds into downtown Detroit.

The study was conducted by the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Detroit Economic Growth Corp. and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.

Ideas include reconstructing the freeway or shortening I-375 by starting the transition to surface streets farther north.

MDOT says Monday all six alternatives for the freeway transformation remain on the table. The next step before a decision is a land use study. MDOT project manager Kelby Wallace says in a statement there's no timetable for when a land use analysis will be started.

A review of the six alternatives is below, or available here.

The study likely will analyze opportunities such as additional neighborhood connectivity, an improved gateway to the riverfront and further development potential.
