DETROIT – A Detroit man was killed early Tuesday morning in a house fire on Burnette Street.
Firefighters pulled the victim -- who is in his 30s or 40s -- from the flames and took him to Detroit Receiving Hospital, but he died from his injuries, a source told Local 4.
Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the home. It was taken to an engine house.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Neighbors Local 4 spoke to identified the victim by his nickname, "Shorty," and said he was well liked.
“He was a good guy. He looked out for my dog. I sometimes looked out for his dog," said Felton Vance.
