Man found shot to death in Detroit's Brush Park

Victim identified as 35-year-old Willie Gardner

DETROIT – A man was found shot to death Thursday morning inside a red Dodge Charger on Watson Street in Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood.

The area is near Interstate 75 and Mack Avenue. The victim was shot multiple times in the neck. He was found inside the Charger parked near Brewster Homes. It appears he was shot while inside the vehicle.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Willie Gardner. He was a father of three.

Friends say Gardner worked at a marijuana dispensary on Gratiot Avenue. The Detroit man was a father of two girls and a boy. He had recently gotten engaged.

"He was a good dad, a good brother, a good friend, a good boyfriend. He was a good guy and I don't know why nobody would want to hurt him like this," said Sanetta Gardner, the victim's sister.

Sources say the man was killed Wednesday night but police weren't called until Thursday morning. Gardner's family says they're frustrated no one called police earlier.

Police are not releasing any details at this time. The victim's family is urging anyone with information to come forward.
