WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – As construction season gets into full swing, westbound I-94 is next on the list with the project beginning early next week.

There will be single and double lane closures resulting in only one lane open at times. The common ramps to the Detroit Metro Airport will remain open until mid-August when concrete repair begins on them.

The construction is part of a $9 million dollar project dedicated to repairing nearly 11 miles of freeway and ramps. Repair work includes resurfacing, concrete pavement repairs, drainage work, and pavement markings. This will also include the common ramps to Middle Belt Road, Merriman Road, Vining Road, and Wayne Road.

To advise drivers of the road work and lane closures, message board signs will be placed at I-94, I-275, US-24, and M-39.

Construction is expected to end mid-November later this year.

Suggested detour:

Drivers are strongly urged to use the I-275 and Eureka Road airport entrance to avoid delays during the construction.
