Morris facing fleeing and eluding charge

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP – It all started because of a busted up windshield.

White Lake Township police pulled over a woman near M-59 and Fisk Road on June 6. Police said the driver gave officers a fake name and while the officer ran the plate against the fake name she wheeled around and took off.

The driver was allegedly Mercedes Morris and she was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.

Police gave chase as she put the pedal to floor and flew down M-59, weaving in and out of traffic. The dashcam video shows the chase which lasted for about four minutes before she lost control of her SUV and smashed into a utility pole along M-59 and Ridge Road in Highland Township taking it to the ground.

Officers surround the vehicle and took her in to custody.

In addition to her outstanding warrants and suspended license, Morris is facing a fleeing and eluding charge among others.
