2 shot on Detroit's west side after initiating gunfire first

DETROIT – Two men are in serious condition after being shot by a man they were trying to shoot first, police say.

The double shooting happened on the 2000 block of Delaware Street  on Detroit’s west side around 5:30 a.m.

Police said a 22-year-old man was sitting in his Chevy Trailblazer when someone fired multiple rounds inside his vehicle.

The 22-year-old did not get shot, but returned fire with his own gun, striking the two men who were shooting at him.

The two men, a 31-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, were taken to Henry Ford Hospital in serious condition.

The 22-year-old is a CPL holder, but the Detroit Police Department said they currently have him in custody.
