DETROIT – Heavy rains caused flooding on some Detroit-area freeways, forcing officials to close portions of interstates 696 and 94.
I-696 was closed on both directions early Friday in Warren after rains left some motorists stranded. Water over the roadway closed I-94 in Harper Woods -- it has since reopened.

DTE Energy said it had about 10,000 customers across the area without power.
Eastbound at I-696 at Mound has reopened.
Westbound I-696 at Van Dyke is closed.
