Comcast restores phone service after major nationwide outage

MIAMI – Thousands of Comcast customers experienced a massive phone service outage Tuesday.

Service has since been restored.

A service map showed that the outages appeared to be centered in South Florida, the Northeast and Pacific Northwest.

Many took to Twitter to comment and complain about the outages that have disrupted business.

The outage began at approximately 2:30 p.m. EST. 

Comcast acknowledged issues with their network in a statement.

“Early today an issue in our network prevented some of our small business customers from making and receiving phone calls. We’re working as quickly as possible to understand the root cause and get it resolved," 

One Chicago business told Local 10 that their calls to Comcast were met with a recording saying the number they had dialed was a non-working number.

According to some businesses, Comcast is claiming that it is a national outage and they are working to fix the problem.
