Washington Township man charged with child abuse involving 6-month-old son

Baby had injuries consistent with shaken baby

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 22-year-old Washington Township man has been charged with child abuse involving his 6-month-old son.

The baby was in his father's care Monday while the mother was at work, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said. When the mother returned home, she found the child "injured," and called 911, the Sheriff's Office said.

The baby was taken first to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital before being transferred to Children's Hospital of Michigan.

Doctors said the baby had injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome, the Sheriff's Office said. The father, Anthony Robinson, was arrested and charged with first-degree child abuse, which is a felony punishable by up to life in prison. He was arraigned Thursday.
