Meijer to begin home delivery service in greater Detroit

Beginning Thursday, Meijer grocery stores will be offering home delivery to the greater Detroit area. The program will let shoppers order their groceries online and have them delivered to their doorstep within one hour.

Meijer stores have partnered up with Shipt, an app-based company, which will launch the home grocery delivery service from 25 locations in the greater Detroit area.

Shoppers will be able to choose from 55,000 different grocery options from the app which will include perishables including fresh produce, refrigerated and frozen items and everyday essentials.

After the customer has placed their order, Shipt shoppers will hand-pick the items and deliver them within a one-hour time window.

Shipt membership run from $99 for an annual membership to $14 monthly memberships and for a limited time, members will receive $25 off their first order. Delivery is free for orders over $35 and a flat $7 is added to any orders under $35.
