Sterling Heights high school student charged with making threat to kill classmates

Brendan Boucher allegedly tells classmate he would shoot him in back of head

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A Sterling Heights high school student was arrested Thursday and charged with making a terror threat.

Brendan Boucher, 18, is also charged with having a dangerous weapon on school grounds, after police said he was found with a knife in his backpack.

The incident began with some very disturbing comments Boucher made to another student. Police said he went up to another student and said, "One day, I'm going to come up behind you and shoot you in the back of the head."

Boucher also said he was going to "make Columbine look like a joke," police said. He allegedly planned to bring an AK-47 to school.

After the incident was reported, school security found a four-inch blade in Boucher's backpack. After his arrest, police searched Boucher's home, but found no other weapons. They are still taking the case seriously.

Police said Boucher never claimed he was kidding or that his comments were a joke. Police said he was serious about the threats.

Boucher is being held in jail.
