DETROIT – Dozens of drivers were left stranded early Monday morning when they filled up their tanks with watered-down gasoline at a Sunoco gas station on Detroit’s east side.
Managers at the Sunoco station said they’re doing what they can to make the situation right, including paying for each car to be repaired.
Drivers, however, think that the station should do more than just replace a few parts, adding that most of them will not have the resources to fix other problems that may arise later.
“I think they need to reimburse our cars because a lot of people are out here. I had to call off work for this situation. We can’t even get a receipt here,” said Lance Anderson, who was one of the dozens of drivers who purchased the contaminated gasoline.
Investigators visited the station and told managers that they can’t sell any more gas until the problem is fixed.
Mechanics working with those affected changed the fuel filters and fuel pumps on the cars and said that should correct the problem.
