Woman's body found in burning car in West Bloomfield; intense investigation underway

Neighborhood in shock

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – The quiet neighborhood just south of Long Lake Road in West Bloomfield was turned upside down on Friday.

Word quickly spread about a young woman's body found in a burning car. Police asked the victim's neighbor very specific questions about the victim, indicating the woman may have been ambushed.

"She sometimes listens to the radio in the car in the driveway, that's what the cop brought up," the man said.

The car was found burning behind the vacant Pine Lake Elementary School. Police followed tire tracks up the path behind the school to a home on Shore Crest Drive. Two young men were taken in for questioning -- a 19-year-old from West Bloomfield and an 18-year-old from Detroit.

People coming and going from the home Friday were angry as police searched the house.

As police were responding the burning car, an officer spotted both teens at the Orchard Lake boat ramp. Both teens were identified at that time, but police didn't know they might be connected to the body and the car.

As police investigated, both teens were stopped in a car as they were driving back to a home. Oakland County's dive team then searched the lake for evidence.

West Bloomfield residents are in shock after the brutal murder and intense investigation.
