Here is a statement from WDIV General Manager Marla Drutz:

"About 12 years ago, Guy Gordon made the leap from another station and came here to WDIV/Local 4. Within a short period of time, he became part of the fabric of this company and huge contributor on our anchor desk, auto show coverage and much of the important news of this region.  Well, I just want to let everyone know that an amazing opportunity has come Guy’s way. If you’ve ever heard Guy fill-in for Paul W. Smith on WJR then you have witnessed how formidable he is on the radio. His depth of knowledge and conversational interview style is what makes him such an excellent journalist.

Guy has been offered his own program on WJR and is going to be leaving WDIV to start this new and exciting challenge. We hate to see him go but we are so proud of his contributions and appreciative of the years he’s been with us. As with friends and family members, we support Guy on his new endeavors and are optimistic that we can work together in the future.  While Guy’s new gig doesn’t start till the first of the year, his last day at the station will be Wednesday, December 21."

Here is  message from Guy:

Friends: If you haven't heard by now, tomorrow will be my last day at Local 4. This fall I was faced with the most blessed of dilemmas: Continue working at the best television station in the nation with friends and colleagues I love and admire. Or try my hand in a different medium joining Hall of Fame broadcasters on WJR with my own afternoon show.

I still have the energy, passion and enthusiasm to continue toiling in WDIV's lovely vineyard, but I simply couldn't pass up the challenge and excitement of trying something new. Not many guys my age get that kind of opportunity.

WDIV GM Marla Drutz and News Director Kim Voet Potter have made these last few years an absolute delight. We part with the intent to find ways for me to continue contributing to WDIV.

I leave behind good friends who I will miss every day.

On January 2nd, the new chapter in my life will begin. You can find me at 3-5 P.M. on WJR. We'll be celebrating Detroit, learning about Michigan and tackling the big news of the day.

And the best part: I get to talk to you. We'll be taking listener calls and getting your take on whatever you've got on your mind.

I hope you'll join me on this exciting journey.
