WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 22-year-old Washington Township man was sentenced Wednesday morning on charges of child abuse involving his 6-month-old son.
Anthony Tyrese Robinson was pleaded guilty in December to first-degree child abuse. He was sentenced to 129 months to 30 years in prison.
Authorities said the baby was in his father’s care while the mother was at work and when she returned home, she found the boy injured and called 911. The baby was taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital before being transferred to Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
Doctors said the baby had injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry” Robinson told the family. “I know I can’t take it back. I wish I could.”
