INKSTER, Mich. – Three adults and two children were hurt in Inkster on Friday night in a crash that appears to have been caused by a drunken driver, police said.
Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, which took place near the intersection of Middlebelt Road and Michigan Avenue.
That area remained shut down at last check.
The Inkster Police Department and the Michigan State Police are looking into the circumstances of the crash. Investigators said the driver of a Pontiac G-6 smashed into a minivan and an SUV.
As of just after 11 p.m., the Pontiac G-6 was spotted on a tow truck, with debris from the collision still littering the roadway.
Police said the driver was taken to a hospital as officials work to determine his or her blood-alcohol content.
The five people hurt are all hospitalized. Critical injuries are involved, police said.
One of the children is an infant, believed to be 5 or 6 months old, officials said.
