Eminem's ex-wife Kim Mathers appeared in court Monday for an alleged violation of her probation.
Documents show Mathers' alcohol and drug tests came back diluted six different times between December 2016 and Feb. 1, 2017. The tests were part of her probation for a drunken driving conviction.
In court Monday, Mathers' attorney said she failed the tests because she was not educated about how she might compromise them. He said many of his clients often fail the tests the first time because they don't know drinking coffee or too much water could compromise the results.
Mathers began voluntarily using Soberlink after those failed tests and has shown a 100 percent compliance, her attorney said. She also submitted a hair sample Feb. 14 which came back negative. The judge said Soberlink, which is a portable alcohol breathalyzer, is much more comprehensive than the drug and alcohol tests she was ordered to undergo. He decided Mathers should continue with Soberlink and two other alcohol and drug tests each month for another 90 days, then he will review.
