DETROIT – A 73-year-old man who was pinned under a camper Thursday when a speeding truck barreled through pedestrians in Detroit has died, according to police.
The 42-year-old driver of the truck was taken into custody. Detroit police said he reeked of alcohol.
Multiple witnesses told police the truck crossed the line intentionally to hit the victims. The crash happend on Canfield Street near Second Street outside the Shinola store.
Four people were struck in the incident.

The fatal victim was pinned under a camper which was parked on the street for the "Tesla Explores" event, as the automaker travels across North America with a mobile gallery pulled by a Model X SUV. The trailer was retrofitted to showcase interior and exterior vehicle options.
The passenger inside the pickup truck said he looked up and was shocked at what was going on. He said he reached across the driver and threw the gear shift into park to stop the vehicle.
