DETROIT – Three people were injured Wednesday morning in an explosion at the General Motors Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant on Detroit's east side.
The plant is on East Grand Boulevard.
The Detroit Fire Department said there was a small filter pump explosion. GM spokesman Tom Wickham said a pressure valve popped off and three workers were injured. The workers suffered non-life threatening injuries and required some treatment.
The incident has been labeled an industrial accident.
The plant was not evacuated.
No other information was made available.
