DETROIT – Local 4 ground video caught the exciting police chase Tuesday morning in Detroit and surveillance video shows the moments before the pursuit ended in a crash.

A 2-year-old girl was taken at knifepoint from her aunt’s home on Detroit’s west side prompting an Amber Alert. Sondra Renee was found safe in the vehicle after the crash..

Police said 42-year-old Grady Lamar Barrett went to the home with a weapon and took Sondra with him. He is not the biological parent and is the boyfriend of Sondra’s mother. A machete was seen sitting on the dashboard of the suspect's vehicle after the chase ended.

The chase ended in a crash on Meyers Road just south of 7 Mile Road.

Two people were taken into custody. No troopers or officers were injured in the pursuit. The suspect was taken to the hospital under arrest.
