A man has been found guilty in the 2016 shooting of a South Carolina officer that was captured on video. Footage of the incident that occurred on New Year's Day in 2016 was released Thursday.
The footage shows Officer Quincy Smith pointing a stun gun at suspect Malcolm Antwan Orr and ordering him to stop walking away. Smith threatens to use his stun gun if Orr does not stop. Smith then orders Orr to take his hand out of his pocket. Suddenly, Orr pulls out a gun and fires multiple shots at Smith.
Smith rushes back to his patrol car and calls for backup. A bystander comes to stay with the officer until help arrives. At one point, Smith tells a dispatcher, "Please tell my family I love them."

According to a report from WISTV, Smith was shot four times. He has since recovered.
The incident occurred when Smith was responding to a call about a man trying to snatch groceries from customers at a party store. The man was described as wearing camouflage and a red bandana.
Smith spotted a man matching the description who was later identified as Orr. After Smith ordered Orr to stop, Orr fired eight shots. Smith was hit four times.
The emergency room physician who treated Smith testified that one bullet had completely severed a vein in the right side of Smith's neck.
Orr was found guilty Wednesday after a two-day trial at the Hampton County Courthouse. He was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
