MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 21-year-old Monroe County woman won a $1.8 million Lotto 47 jackpot on a ticket she purchased with $2 from another lottery ticket.

She bought her winning ticket at the Stop and Run, located at 2062 South Custer Road in Monroe. It is the sixth time in 2017 that a player has won the Lotto 47 jackpot.

"I bought a Lotto 47 ticket with EZMatch and won $2 on the EZMatch, so I cashed it in and stuck the new ticket in my purse," she said. "I forgot about it for a few days and even took a couple of trips with it in my purse, not knowing I had won.

"I was at the store with my sister when I found the ticket and scanned it on the Lucky Spot. It said to see the retailer, so I had the clerk scan it and she told me I had to go to Lansing. I got a printout of the numbers and handed it to my sister. She read the first three numbers off the printout, and I read the last three off my ticket. That’s when I knew I had won and we started screaming and celebrating."

She visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim her prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.1 million, rather than an annuity.

With her winnings, she plans to buy a new vehicle and a new home, and invest the remainder.

"Winning at such a young age gives me a real sense of security to start my adult life debt-free," she said.
