FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Police were called to a Farmington Hills neighborhood Monday where a 35-year-old woman was found dead on the patio of family's mansion. Officers originally believed her fall from a second-story window was an accident.
Days later, officers took the woman's 16-year-old son into custody after detectives discovered evidence indicating that her death was not the result of an accident.
Nada Huranieh, 35, was a fitness instructor at the Franklin Club in Southfield.
Officers were called to the mansion on Howard Road at about 6:40 a.m. on a report of an unconscious woman who was a victim of an accident. Life saving measures were unsuccessful.
Evidence led detectives to believe her fall was not an accident and began treating the death as a homicide.
Huranieh's son was later taken into custody and is being held at Oakland County Children's Village. Prosecutors continue to review the case to determine if the teen will stay at Children's Village or move to the Oakland County Jail, where he would be officially charged with killing his mother.
It's unclear if anyone other than her son was involved, officials said.
Police haven't released a motive behind the murder. It's unclear if he will be charged as an adult.
Huranieh's husband is facing illegal billing of hedicare and health care fraud in case pending out of Canton.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department at 248-871-2610.
