Sterling Heights police, fire personnel surprise boy, 11, who has terminal cancer

Noah is battling Ewing's Sarcoma

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights fire and police personnel visited an 11-year-old boy with terminal cancer Saturday to help lift his spirits.

Noah Gochanou was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma, in 2014. The cancerous tumor grows in bones or the soft tissue around bones, such as cartilage or nerves.

When police learned that Noah could use some holiday cheer, they started planning a surprise home visit.

An officer went to Noah's house to introduce himself and give him shirts for his family. Noah was then asked to use a police radio to call for assistance. When he called, a parade of police and fire vehicles, including a helicopter, came to his house and surprised him with gifts.

The police department has also been collecting money to help send Noah's family to California.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help cross items off Noah's wishlist.
