Bootleg zookeeper
Police rescued hundreds of exotic animals, including more than 300 hedgehogs and a 200-pound snake, from a "bootleg zookeeper" in Romulus, officials said.
Police said they received a tip Thursday about someone illegally housing animals in a building in the 31000 block of Ecorse Road.
Burning SUV
A mother with six boys in her vehicle on their way to Twelve Oaks Mall to go back-to-school shopping relied on her motherly instincts when the SUV burst into flames on I-96.
She managed to get the SUV out of the way of traffic and all six boys to safety.
Bird hoarding
Dozens of rare and exotic birds were rescued from a mobile home in St. Clair County Tuesday.
The trailer had so many birds in it, neighbors could hear them squawking and alerted animal control. The birds were found in filthy conditions and authorities said they believe it was a hoarding situation.
Epstein's cause of death
Jeffrey Epstein's cause of death was suicide by hanging, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Friday.
The determination came almost a week after the multimillionaire was found in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where the 66-year-old was awaiting trial on federal charges accusing him of sexually abusing underage girls and running a sex trafficking ring. He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
