A new New American spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Called Smith & Co., the new addition is located at 644 Selden St. in Midtown.

Smith & Co., housed in the century-old Smith Welding Supply & Equipment Company building, according to Detroit Eater, offers New American cuisine. On the menu, expect to see items like sausage empanadas, rainbow trout and corned beef sandwiches. The spot also features specialty cocktails like the Detroit Manhattan with rye, Faygo Rock & Rye soda, Aperol and chocolate bitters.

The newcomer has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp.

Dawn V., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 29, wrote, "We had the roasted carrot starter, beet and plum salad, shrimp and grits and the donut/ganache for dessert. I'm in love with this vibe, décor and atmosphere."

Yelper Jeff C. added, "The Waygu beef burger was perhaps the best burger in the Midtown or Downtown area. A must-order is the Detroit hot links appetizer. The chicken sandwich was also very good with a little bit of a kick that was just right and not overbearing."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Smith & Co. is open from 4 p.m.–11 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4 p.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
