DETROIT – DTE Energy is already preparing for the worst of winter storms.
Local 4's Hank Winchester went on a ride along with crews who explained the major ways they're making improvements. Their main focus is on the reliability of the equipment.
Crews made major changes to the infrastructure, installing new poles and crossbars. They also fixed equipment that's damaged or out of date.
They're working to make improvements to 7,000 square miles in Detroit. DTE said this work will make the infrastructure more durable. DTE is also upgrading its substations, making sure that equipment is in working order.
