OAK PARK, Mich. – A Detroit woman has been charged with dragging an Oak Park police officer while fleeing a traffic stop, officials said.

Shira Gray, 32, was stopped around 4:45 p.m. Sunday while driving her Chevrolet Equinox near Nine Mile Road and Coolidge Highway, police said.

She was stopped because she stole clothes from Citi Trends, according to authorities.

Gray gave the officer her driver’s license, but when he asked her to get out of the SUV, she drove away, dragging the officer for about 20 feet, officials said.

Police said the woman ran a red light to get away.

Gray was arrested and charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury.

She was arraigned Wednesday at 45th District Court in Oak Park and is being held on $50,000 bail, officials said.
