Election 2019: Marijuana business proposals on ballots in 4 Metro Detroit communities

Voters in Keego Harbor, Walled Lake, Allen Park and Lincoln Park will decide on marijuana businesses proposals on Tuesday.

In Keego Harbor, there is a proposal to allow four medical marijuana dispensaries and four recreational stores.

In Walled Lake, voters will consider allowing eight recreational marijuana retailers.

In Allen Park, there’s a proposal to allow three marijuana retailers and three micro businesses.

In Lincoln Park, voters will consider allowing two medical and two recreational marijuana shops.

Friday was the first day LARA’s Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) began accepting applications for recreational marijuana businesses.

It’s been a year since Michigan voters approved recreational marijuana usage and 11 years since medical marijuana was approved. Since the 2008 vote on medical marijuana, it took a while to get businesses up and running and it’s uncertain when recreational shops will start opening.
