TAYLOR, Mich. – A family from Dearborn Heights is heartbroken after its two dogs were hit and killed after allegedly being thrown onto I-94.
Malachi, a rottweiler and Australian shepherd mix, and Apollo, a German shepherd puppy, got out earlier this week.
The dogs’ owner said she went looking for them. When she went to the Taylor Animal Shelter, she was told that the animals’ bodies were found on the freeway.
“He told me he had both of my dogs and that they had multiple calls saying that a guy threw them out on the freeway,” she said.
Animal shelter employees confirm that they did receive calls about a man who threw two dogs onto the freeway out of a black truck.
Because of the support the dogs’ owner has gotten online, she is able to get her dogs cremated. She said the hardest part about losing the animals has been explaining to her 2-year-old son where the dogs went.
Anyone who may have witnessed someone throwing dogs onto I-94 is asked to call police at 734-287-6550.
