Injured driver freed from wreckage of two-car crash in Lyon Township, officials say

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Officials said an injured driver was freed from the wreckage of a two-car crash in Lyon Township.

Lyon Township and Salem Township firefighters were called around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to a crash on Eight Mile Road west of Chubb Road on the border of the two townships, officials said.

UPDATE: Woman who caused crash was under influence of marijuana, police believe

A 19-year-old Whitmore Lake woman and a 27-year-old Novi man were taken to nearby hospitals, authorities said.

Authorities said they initially requested a helicopter to the scene, but the request was later canceled.
