Man steals cash drawer from register at Madison Heights gas station, officials say

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Police are searching for a man who stole the cash drawer from the register at a gas station in Madison Heights.

The incident happened at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday inside the Mobil gas station at 404 West 11 Mile Road, according to officials.

A 19-year-old gas station clerk told police a man armed with a knife had jumped over the counter and demanded money. The man took the cash drawer and fled on foot, police said.

Authorities described the man as white, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall and thin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a scarf over his face, officials said.

The clerk was not injured, according to authorities.

Madison Heights police are investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 248-585-2100.
