DETROIT – A 23-year-old man was shot and injured during an armed robbery in Detroit Friday night, police say.

According to police, the victim was walking near Alaska and Wetherby after 11 p.m. Friday when a blue Chevy Sedan pulled up next to him. An armed man got out of the vehicle and approached the victim demanding money.

The victim did what the robber asked. Police say the victim tried fleeing the scene when the robber got distracted by another vehicle that either pulled up or passed through the area.

As the victim tried running away, the robber fired multiple shots at him and then fled the scene. The victim is in stable condition, police say.

The robber is described as a black man in his 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, was wearing a dark blue hoodie, and black jogging pants with a black stripe.

There was another person involved driving the Chevy Sedan. Police do not have a description of the driver.
