WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – The Grosse Ile swing bridge over the Trenton Channel closed Wednesday night and is expected to remain closed until further notice for maintenance and repairs.

That closure lead to a massive traffic mess around Grosse Ile Thursday night. Traffic to get on a private toll bridge was the only option for many and traffic was backed up for miles. Some drivers struck in the traffic said it was going to take two hours for them to get home.
Drivers are urged to use West Jefferson and Grosse Ile Parkway as detours.
