VIDEO: Car drives into Oakland County pond after owner uses remote starter to warm car up

A car was pulled out of a pond in Lyon Township after the car malfunctioned Nov. 16, 2019.

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A car was submerged in a pond in Lyon Township after the car malfunctioned Saturday morning.

According to the Lyon Township Fire Department, the car owner used a remote starter and the car drove into a 16-foot-deep pond outside the Huron Valley Gun Range. There was no one in the car at the time and no one was injured.

Video of the incident captured the driver run after the car.

Authorities said the car had a manual transmission and was in neutral when the car was started.
