Feds: Michigan man uses Facebook to lure girls in Philippines into sending explicit images

DETROIT – Federal officials say a Michigan man used Facebook Messenger to lure teenage girls in the Philippines into sending him hundreds of images -- many of them sexually explicit. The Local 4 Defenders are exposing the child porn case, which took place in Shaftsburg, just outside of Lansing. Neighbors in the area were adamant when they told the Defenders they don’t want to talk about what happened.

“Hello, Dolly!” canceled

Tuesday’s opening night performance of “Hello, Dolly!” at Detroit’s Fisher Theatre was canceled because of an unexpected mechanical issue with one of the production’s semi trucks. Guests with tickets to the canceled performance can exchange tickets in person at the Fisher Theatre box office for comparable seats to another performance. Weeknight performances have the most comparable seats, according to a news release. Availability for Saturday and Sunday matinees is limited.

Warren City Council

The Warren City Council passed a resolution that gives members lifetime health care benefits. The resolution was passed in less than 30 seconds during a Sept. 10 meeting. Six of the seven council members will not return next term, including four term-limited members.

Stores open during Thanksgiving

It’s the ever controversial time of the year to debate if stores should open on Thanksgiving evening for early holiday shopping! The trend really picked up a few years ago, but there has been a noticeable push back by consumers, and some stores have backtracked on plans to open on the evening of Thanksgiving.

Home invasion

Two people died and one was injured after a home invasion in Detroit Monday, police say. According to police, three people were inside the home on Santa Rosa when three men broke into it.

Regional transit push

Local leaders have launched a push for regional transit in Metro Detroit. Wayne County Executive Warren Evans said the county can’t afford to wait. This new push comes after failed bids in 2016 and 2018, with the opposition led by the late L. Brooks Patterson.

Epstein guards charges

Two correctional officers responsible for guarding Jeffrey Epstein when he took his own life are expected to face criminal charges this week for falsifying prison records, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
