2 car break-ins reported at Somerset Park Apartments in Troy

TROY, Mich. – The Troy Police Department has released two alerts regarding two car break-ins at two Somerset Park Apartment buildings last week, one on Wednesday and the other on Saturday.

The first incident occurred between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of North Dorchester Drive. The robber broke out the front passenger window of the victim’s 2018 Chevrolet Equinox and took her purse that was inside.

The car was parked in the complex parking lot, according to officials. Inside the victim’s handbag was a planner, makeup supplies and a miscellaneous amount of change.

The second break-in occurred between 9:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday on the 1000 block of Kirts Boulevard. The front passenger window of the victim’s gray 2019 Honda Civic, which was parked in the parking lot, was broken by an unknown suspect, according to officials.

The victim’s credit cards, dental insurance card, his United States Social Security card, work visa and about $15 in cash were stolen, according to police.
