DETROIT – With COVID case numbers surging, the response from Michigan is far different than what we’ve seen during past waves of COVID.

There aren’t strict mask mandates, bars and restaurants are still open and most students are back in the classroom. The number of daily COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in Michigan is nearly the same as this time last year.

Utley was a Detroit Lions lineman until a freak, otherwise routine-looking blocking play during a game on Nov. 17, 1991 at the Pontiac Silverdome. A Los Angeles Rams player came down over top of him, sending his chin into the turf at the Silverdome. Utley was paralyzed from the waist down.

Michigan health officials reported 21,034 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. That’s an average of 7,011.3 cases over the past three days.
After the shark spike in new cases, the Henry Ford Health System is joining in with other healthcare systems warning that the situation is again worsening.

Video from Sterling Heights police shows a long and intense high-speed chase and the ensuing arrest of a man accused of breaking into the home of a couple who posted on social media that they were at a wedding, officials said.
Police were called at 11 p.m. Friday (Nov. 12) to a home in the 38700 block of Westchester Road.
A 19-year-old babysitter told police she had locked herself and the children she was watching inside the master bedroom and could hear someone in the home.
Ypsilanti student dies after medical emergency during basketball tryouts
An Ypsilanti Community Schools student has died after experiencing a medical emergency during basketball tryouts, the district revealed.
Jaylen Mitchell, a YCHS Stemm Middle College senior, was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after suffering a medical emergency during the tryout, school officials said.
He died Monday night (Nov. 15), according to the school release.
