DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department's Hazardous Materials and Bomb Squad team responded to the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Detroit Friday after reports of a suspicious envelope addressed to a federal judge.
Officials said the team checked the envelope to determine if the package contained any dangerous materials. DPD officers, Detroit firefighters and Federal Protective Service agents responded to the scene.

The X-Ray machine used to scan incoming mail alerted workers to the suspicious envelope around 11:30 a.m.

The bomb squad and U.S. Marshals determined that the envelope did not contain explosives or dangerous materials. The all-clear was given around 1:15 p.m.
