No description found

DETROIT – Michigan-based company Biggby Coffee is warning some customers and job applicants that their personal information may be compromised due to a security breach.

In a letter to email subscribers, the coffee company says some personal information from Biggby rewards card users or job applicants may have been disclosed due to the security breach. The personal information may include a person's name, address, phone number, email address, and information regarding employment history. Financial data is not at risk, according to the company.

Here's part of the email from Biggby:

"At this time, we are not aware of any misuse of this information. We take the security of information in our control seriously, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Last week we learned from our web developer and hosting company Traction that a criminal forced their way into our systems and accessed BIGGBY customer info from our customer database. Unfortunately, the compromised data may have included your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and information regarding your employment history. The intruder(s) did not gain access to financial information or sensitive data such as credit card information, bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or driver's license numbers."

A spokeswoman released an update Friday afternoon, stating less than 20 percent of Biggby's customer data was accessed.

"Please note that the information accessed was information that was ONLY provided by customers via the biggby.com website. If you registered your card via the B Happy Lounge, this does not affect you. Less than 20 percent of our customer data was accessed. Please note that information accessed had nothing to do with our cash registers or point of sale systems in our stores," said spokeswoman Nicole Vilminot in an email to ClickOnDetroit.com.

Biggby says the data breach has been reported to police and the FBI.

Customers are advised to contact the company at feedback@biggby.com or at 517-482-8145.
