Boy, 10, fatally shot on Detroit's east side

Authorities investigate Monday night shooting on Roxbury Street

DETROIT – An investigation is underway after a 10-year-old boy was fatally shot, according to Detroit police.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Monday on Roxbury Street near Morang Avenue on Detroit's east side.

Four kids were home alone; An adult apparently had just stepped out then returned and called 911.

A 14-year-old had yelled out to his mother that he heard a bang and then found his cousin in the basement of the home.

Detroit police couldn't wait for an ambulance because the situation was so critical. They rushed the boy to the hospital themselves, but the 10-year-old had died from the shotgun wound.

Police are questioning a child, a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old to determine what led up to the shooting.

It's unclear who pulled the trigger.
